Gordon Teks dari lagu ”Yesus Ku CintaMu” yang begitu indah dan begitu dalam artinya itu ternyata ditulis oleh seorang remaja yang bernama William Ralph Featherston dari Montreal, Canada. Teks ini keluar dari rasa syukurnya yang mendalam ketika dia mengalami pertobatan pada waktu masih berusia enam belas tahun. Kemudian dia menuliskan teks itu di selembar kertas dan mengirimkannya kepada bibinya yang tinggal di Los Angeles. Tetapi kemudian teks itu muncul tanpa nama dalam kumpulan lagu-lagu himne Inggris, The London Book, pada tahun 1864. Beberapa tahun kemudian, seorang pendeta Amerika, Dr. Gordon, menemukan teks yang begitu indah itu sudah menjadi sebuah lagu di dalam buku himne Inggris, kemudian setelah dia melihatnya, dia langsung memutuskan untuk menulis melodi yang lebih baik untuk itu. Maka melodi yang dia tuliskan itulah yang kita nyanyikan sekarang ini. Satu lagu yang termasuk paling sering dinyanyikan oleh seluruh orang percaya di dunia ini.
